OCDSB learning support consultants, Kim Esdaile and Lisa Piers, are hosting a workshop for volunteers supporting students with language learning disabilities including dyslexia. This workshop will explore the range of challenges that students with learning disabilities encounter in the classroom and provide participants with a selection of strategies and resources that can be used to support their learning (e.g., decoding strategies, pre-teaching vocabulary, comprehension strategies, visual supports, graphic organizers, assistive technology, goal setting and planning, self-reflection).  The importance of understanding students’ overall learning profiles and taking a strengths based approach will be highlighted.
