It starts with a great idea – and ends with the reward of making a donation that will enhance education and support local student success.
Each year, enthusiastic individuals and devoted groups work together to raise money for the Ottawa Network for Education by hosting an independent community event. We have received proceeds from raffles, golf tournaments, retro dances, diner take-overs, garage sales, and more.
Now that pandemic-related restrictions have eased, we would be very happy to advise on or support potential fund-raising events or initiatives – we are very grateful to generous and caring community members like you.
Ideas for Events
Make the most of your next socially-distanced gathering by adding a fundraising component that will raise much-needed funds for the Ottawa Network for Education. Charge a small admission fee, add a 50/50 draw or raffle, or put a few items up for auction. It’s your chance to be creative, have fun, and contribute to the success of local students.
If you’re already planning an event, consider adding a virtual raffle or online silent auction that will benefit ONFE. Your contribution will help fund important programs to help local students shine inside and outside the classroom.
Organize an in-person or online yard sale with GiveShop and direct the proceeds to ONFE. It’s easy to do, and your contribution will help us address critical issues like: student hunger and inadequate nutrition; literacy and numeracy deficits; learning disabilities; and substance abuse in the middle and high school years. The City of Ottawa is now allowing in-person garage sales and using the GiveShop app is COVID-safe because it uses electronic payments and encourages contactless pickup.
Is your company bringing back their annual golf tournament that doesn’t have a charitable beneficiary? If so, consider directing the proceeds of your event to ONFE to give every child in Ottawa the chance to succeed in school. Get in touch with us, we’d be glad to help!
Consider organizing a virtual walk or run to benefit ONFE. Gather a team together and track your distance over a certain time period to maximize participation. Or hold the event on one day and encourage friends to get involved from far and wide to support students in Ottawa!
Featured event: Julianna Banana
Julianna Banana aims to inspire kids and families to get baking, cooking, and creating in the kitchen all while learning about food, having fun, and gaining an appreciation for the importance of community and giving back.
We are thrilled that a portion of the proceeds for both classes and boxes now support our work at ONFE!
Featured platform: GiveShop
GiveShop is an online marketplace that makes it easy to raise funds for ONFE simply by donating and buying gently used items. The marketplace is similar to Kijiji; however, all sale proceeds from any item sold on the marketplace are donated directly the charity of your choice. With the free GiveShop app, donors can easily post items they wish to donate while buyers can shop and filter by category or charity. Donors receive a tax receipt.
