Golf, tiki huts, inflatable slides and charitable giving: Having fun while supporting the Ottawa School Breakfast Program
On August 8th, a few hundred women gathered at Greensmere Golf and Country Club for the Mierins Automotive Group Hot Women’s Open. It is North America’s largest single-day, women-only golf event, and one of the hardest tickets to get in Ottawa. Hosted by Hot 89.9 radio personalities, this golf tournament offers the perfect mix of fun and charitable giving.
As the new ‘title’ sponsor of the Hot Women’s Open, Mierins Automotive Group was provided the opportunity to choose an Ottawa charity to receive the proceeds from this special event.
Lisa Mierins, who co-owns Mierins Automotive with her sibling Arnie, said that selecting the Ottawa School Breakfast Program was an easy choice. When asked why, she replied, “I have 5 children of my own; so to think that 1 in 5 Ottawa children are living in poverty…it is heart-breaking. I’m so pleased that Mierins Automotive Group could help raise $30,000 to support the breakfast program, and to provide a healthy breakfast to students in 187 Ottawa schools. We’re already looking forward to the 2017 Hot Women’s Open, and continuing our commitment to the School Breakfast Program.”
