ONFE Board Spotlight: Rob White, Chair of ONFE’s Board of Directors
ONFE would not reach 75% of Ottawa schools without the support of its dedicated board members. To this end, we are so proud to launch a new series to profile our remarkable Board of Directors. To kick things off, we are profiling Rob White, Chair of ONFE’s Board of Directors.
When Rob White was invited to join ONFE’s Board of Directors in 2014, he jumped at the opportunity. “I considered various causes and decided that two felt right for me: 1) education, and 2) entrepreneurialism. ONFE is of course focused on both; ONFE is all about student success.” In addition to education and entrepreneurialism, ONFE’s efforts to meet students’ needs also resonated with Rob: “My concern is always about the alignment between student needs and our capacity to meet them. This manifests itself in terms of financial and volunteer support to meet current needs and deliver current programs, and our ability to innovate and be responsive as student needs change and evolve.”
Rob also felt compelled to give back to his community: “I think it’s an obligation that we have to each other as members of a community. I also wanted to set an example for my children.” Besides ONFE, Rob currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board of Telfer School of Management and on the Ottawa Board of Trade Board of Directors. Rob has an extensive finance background, starting with his post-secondary studies at the University of Ottawa, where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, from the Telfer School of Management. Rob also spent many successful years at IBM.
“I am a strong believer in the duty that we all share to educate the next generation.” And it shows! Thank you, Rob, for your continued involvement in our community and support of ONFE’s work.
